Devotional
Dear friend, as we embark on this journey of discipleship, it’s crucial to remember that true wisdom comes from God. The verse today reminds us that the foundation of all wisdom is a reverent fear of the Lord. This isn’t a cowering fear, but a deep respect and awe for who God is and what He has done.
As you disciple others, remember that your role is not just to impart knowledge, but to help cultivate a genuine relationship with God. Wisdom isn’t merely about knowing facts; it’s about applying God’s truth to our lives and helping others do the same.
Consider how you can model this wisdom in your own life. Are you seeking God’s guidance in your decisions? Are you demonstrating a life transformed by His word? Your actions will speak louder than your words as you disciple others.
Practical application: Today, before you meet with those you’re discipling, spend time in prayer and God’s Word. Ask the Holy Spirit to fill you with His wisdom. Then, as you interact with others, consciously try to view each situation through the lens of God’s wisdom. Encourage those you’re discipling to do the same, helping them to see how God’s wisdom applies to their daily lives.
Remember, the goal of discipleship is not to create followers of ourselves, but to point others to Christ, the source of all wisdom. Let’s approach this sacred task with humility, always seeking to grow in our own understanding of the Holy One as we guide others.
Prayer
Heavenly Father, we come before You in awe of Your infinite wisdom. Lord, as we seek to disciple others, fill us with Your Holy Spirit and grant us the wisdom that comes only from You. Help us to fear You rightly, understanding that in You are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.
God, we ask that You would give us discernment as we guide others. Let our words be seasoned with grace and truth. May we always point to You as the source of all wisdom and understanding. Help us to be patient and loving, remembering how You have been patient with us.
Father, we pray for those we are discipling. Open their hearts to receive Your wisdom. Help them to grow in their knowledge of You and in their ability to apply Your truth to their lives. May they, in turn, become wise disciplers who lead others to You.
Lord, guard us against pride and self-reliance. Remind us daily that true wisdom begins with humility and a recognition of our dependence on You. In all our efforts to disciple others, may we never lose sight of our own need for Your guidance and wisdom.
We ask all this in Jesus’ name, Amen.
